Allison is a licensed psychotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience, having begun her practice in 2012. In 2022, she founded Awakenly Therapy, LLC—a private practice committed to providing care that is accessible, holistic, and affirming, with a particular specialization in serving the queer community. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, where she received comprehensive training in a range of therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered approaches, and Feminist Theory. Committed to lifelong learning and deepening her clinical expertise, Allison has since pursued advanced training in Somatic Therapy—particularly Somatic Experiencing—as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and couples therapy through the Gottman Method.
Welcome to my profile. I commend you for taking this first, courageous step toward seeking therapy—whether for yourself or alongside your partner. I view it as an act of self-empowerment—one that marks the beginning of a deeper, more intentional relationship with yourself and those around you. In our work together, you can expect a therapeutic experience that is both compassionate and thought-provoking. My approach is rooted in warmth and authenticity, yet it invites meaningful challenge and introspection. Together, we will embark on a journey toward deeper self-understanding and self-acceptance—exploring what no longer serves you, what you wish to nurture, and what you envision bringing into your life to create a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and alignment with your true self. I believe that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Each person is inherently unique, and as such, I approach each client with curiosity, respect, and collaboration—co-creating a space and process that are tailored specifically to your needs, goals, and lived experience.
