About
Amber Monroe is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in La Mesa, CA. Amber is passionate about helping clients find peace, health, and balance in their lives. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work at San Diego State University in 2001, followed by obtaining her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in 2005. Amber then worked in the mental health field as an associate intern until she obtained her Marriage and Family License in 2010. Throughout her career, she has strategically worked in diverse mental health settings, in order to increase her effectiveness, i.e. teen group homes, foster/adoption agencies, residential eating disorder facilities, psychiatric hospitals, regional centers, crisis houses, and Kaiser psychiatry. In 2017, Amber began her private practice, specializing in trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and codependency. Amber’s approach to therapy combines evidence-based practices, including Eye Movement Reprocessing Desensitization (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Amber believes that many of her clients experience mental health symptoms because of traumatic or negatively impactful events in their lives.

Richard Kastanias, LMFT
Over the past several years, Amber and I have shared many clients together. My specialty is couples, and hers, deep individual psychotherapy. Because we have consulted and worked together on many cases together throughout the years, I've gotten to know her work quite well. She is a gifted therapist with deep insight Into the inner workings of the psyche. I believe, she has significantly helped her clients work through complex childhood and adult traumas that have adversely affected their lives by performing deep integration work. In summary, I can't say enough about Amber's work, and how I've witnessed her client's transform to become mentally and emotionally healthy individuals.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Amber Monroe for several years in a clinical setting, during which time I witnessed firsthand her exceptional skills and dedication as a clinician. Amber brings a strong clinical foundation and a deep understanding of a wide range of therapeutic modalities to her work. Most notably, she has a profound grasp of trauma and the nuanced ways in which to support clients on their healing journey. Amber’s ability to integrate her humor, compassion, empathy, and authenticity into the therapy space creates a safe and genuine environment for her clients. This allows them to engage deeply in the therapeutic process and make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.
