About
Charlene has been in private practice since 2017, fulfilling her vision of providing a safe, compassionate, collaborative space for clients free from the interference of corporations, managed care, and other third parties. She holds a MA in Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine, and a MPH specializing in Health Management & Policy from Drexel University. Her work is supported by a pre-medical foundation and over two decades of clinical experience in both medical and psychiatric settings. As a Person-Centered and Eclectic therapist, she draws from several theoretical frameworks that are personalized to each client based on their specific needs. These include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Multicultural Therapy, and Queer-Affirming Therapy. She holds additional interest in expressive arts and the mind-body connection. Her stance is that therapy is very much political, and that living authentically despite today's socioeconomic injustices is a healthy act of resistance that everyone deserves. For that reason, she actively welcomes adults of all ages, inclusive all racial and cultural identities, genders, sexual orientations, and "othered" life experiences.

Message to clients
It is my passion to collaborate with adults of all ages — especially those who are living at the intersection of various identities, and struggling to thrive with the conflict this can bring. In my opinion, no challenge is too great for us to cope with as a team. Even if you don't think you can cope with these challenges just yet, that's okay; I believe you have a lot of strengths, and I’ll work with you to realize those strengths until you get where you want to go. I believe everyone needs help sometimes, and everyone deserves help and understanding always.
