Message to clients
Many of the people who come to see me appear capable and put together on the outside, but internally feel stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by patterns that are hard to change. You may find yourself repeating certain dynamics in relationships, struggling with self-doubt, shame, or perfectionism, or feeling affected by past experiences in ways that are hard to fully understand. In therapy, I aim to offer a thoughtful and collaborative process where we can slow down and explore what feels most important to you. Together, we look beneath the surface to better understand the emotional patterns and experiences that shape how you relate to yourself and others. I work in a depth-oriented way, which means we focus not only on immediate concerns but also on the underlying thoughts, feelings, and dynamics that make change difficult. Over time, this process can lead to greater clarity, emotional flexibility, and a stronger sense of connection to yourself and the people around you. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, but you don’t have to have everything figured out beforehand. If something in this description resonates with you, I invite you to reach out to see if we might be a good fit.

Doriel is an incredibly thoughtful and attentive therapist. He manages to combine intellectual depth and compassion in a way that makes others feel loved and cared for while also being challenged. I highly recommend Doriel to anyone looking for a therapist who will support and care for them as they journey beyond the surface into real change.
Katherine Berko, LCSW
Doriel is a kind, caring, and very intelligent therapist who gives his patients the space to feel heard and witness change. He's constantly fine-tuning his craft and thinking about how to better help his patients. His psychodynamic lens allows a depth to the treatment that many therapists are missing. His patients are in excellent hands.
