About Kelly | She/her

Dr. Kelly is a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of clinical experience across a wide range of settings, including inpatient hospitals, forensic facilities, clinics, academia, telehealth platforms, and private practice. She draws from an integrative humanistic framework, blending evidence-based approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. Her clinical work is informed by a wide range of modalities, including relational therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, CBT, DBT, IFS, feminist, psychodynamic, and compassion-focused therapies. This broad foundation allows her to adapt her work to suit different personalities, identities, and life experiences. Over the years, she has worked with individuals, couples, and groups across the lifespan, building a deep, flexible toolbox and the clinical intuition to meet clients with precision, warmth, and clarity. Dr. Kelly specializes in perfectionism and supporting adults who had to grow up too fast—often high-functioning, emotionally attuned individuals who learned to care for others before themselves. Dr. Kelly also provides gender-affirming therapy and works with individuals exploring gender identity or pursuing medical transition. She frequently supports clients navigating burnout, overwhelm, and the disconnection that can arise when old coping strategies no longer work. She focuses on long term individual therapy with adults. Committed to lifelong learning, she has completed advanced training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and psychedelic integration therapy, which have become integral parts of her work with clients seeking expanded approaches to healing. Dr. Kelly’s practice is inclusive, trauma-informed, and grounded in both clinical rigor and human connection. She is sex-positive, kink-affirming, and welcoming of all relationship structures and identities. Known for her warm, intuitive, and down-to-earth nature, she offers a space that is attuned, collaborative, and deeply respectful of each client’s story.

Message to clients

You’re thoughtful, hardworking, self-aware, and probably the one everyone else leans on. From the outside, it looks like you’re doing just fine, maybe even thriving. But inside, it’s more complicated. Something feels off. Like you’re living a version of yourself that doesn’t tell the whole truth. You’ve done the journaling, read the books, listened to the podcasts and that feeling still won’t go away. I work with people who carry a lot—responsibility, emotion, expectation. People who are used to doing things “right” even when it costs them parts of themself. They have taken on too much for too long, often perfectionists, deep feelers, or those shaped by early family dynamics that required them to grow up fast. They know the coping skills. But something deeper still isn’t clicking. They want a space that goes beyond “coping” and into real understanding and growth. Therapy with me is a space to move beyond skills and into meaning - making sense of the origins of your patterns with honesty, warmth, and insight. Together we will explore your past, present, and future self with care, curiosity, and support for lasting growth. In our work, you can expect greater clarity, kinder inner dialogue, and a more spacious, authentic relationship with yourself - one shaped by who you are, not who you felt you had to be. I offer therapy that’s attuned, compassionate, and deeply collaborative. I’m not here to pathologize you or rush your story. I’m here to help you make sense of your experience, reconnect with what matters to you, and move toward something that feels truer to you. If that resonates, let’s begin your journey.

Dr. McAleer was my co-worker on the forensic inpatient units of Rockland Psychiatric Center from 2015-2017 even as she took a supervisory role. We co-ran multiple groups, and her group and individual work was peerless. In her supervisory role, she oversaw half the psychologists in the hospital, and was superlative in providing clinical training and supervision to the associate psychologists and students. Even as a supervisor, she maintained close contact with patients, and was frequently called in to consult for exceptionally difficult cases. I could not recommend an individual more than Dr. McAleer.

I worked as a psychiatrist for 30 years and Kelly is among the best psychologists that I worked with throughout my career. I would refer my own friends and family to her without hesitation. She is warm, kind, empathic, genuinely listens to her patients, and has excellent clinical skills overall. She is also very smart and highly skilled at working with complex diagnostic cases and trauma. Kelly goes beyond the individual to incorporate a holistic and systemic view of mental health that encourages flexible treatment approaches. She is highly adaptable and patients gravitate to her approachable, supportive nature. Strongly recommend!
