About
Meghan Hanes is a trauma-informed therapist specializing in EMDR therapy, trauma recovery, and substance use concerns. She works with high-functioning adults who appear successful and capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Many of her clients are high-achieving professionals who struggle with chronic stress, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or coping strategies—such as alcohol—that once helped them manage pressure but are now creating concern. Meghan’s approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in nervous system awareness. She integrates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy with evidence-based trauma and stress-recovery approaches to help clients understand how past experiences, chronic stress, and survival patterns shape present-day behaviors and emotional responses. Her work focuses on helping clients develop emotional awareness, regulate their nervous systems, and build healthier ways of coping that align with their values. She has a particular interest in supporting adults who are questioning their relationship with alcohol or other coping behaviors but may not identify with traditional stereotypes of addiction. Meghan creates a non-judgmental space where clients can explore these patterns with curiosity and clarity rather than shame. Meghan offers therapy for trauma, anxiety, burnout, and substance use concerns, with a focus on helping clients move from simply “holding it together” to feeling more connected, regulated, and present in their lives. She provides therapy for adults across Oregon via telehealth.

Message to clients
If you’re someone who looks like you’re holding everything together on the outside—but inside you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or quietly questioning your coping strategies—you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning, capable, and deeply self-aware. They’re professionals, caregivers, and high-achievers who carry a lot of responsibility. From the outside, their lives may look successful. But internally, they may feel anxious, disconnected, burned out, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel aligned with who they want to be. You might notice that stress feels constant, your nervous system rarely fully relaxes, or that certain coping strategies—like alcohol, overworking, or pushing through—have become the only way to finally exhale at the end of the day. If you’ve ever thought, “My life looks good… so why do I still feel this way?” therapy can help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR therapy and nervous system–focused work to help you understand how past experiences, chronic stress, and survival patterns may be shaping your present-day reactions and behaviors. Together, we work to build emotional awareness, strengthen regulation skills, and help you reconnect with clarity, choice, and a sense of calm in your life. You don’t have to keep pushing through alone. If you’re ready to explore what support could look like, I’d be honored to work with you.
