About Nita | They/she

Nita Agustin (they/them) is a gender, youth, and neuro-affirming clinical counsellor based in Burnaby, BC. They specialize in supporting LGBTQIA2S+ teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating identity, life transitions, coming out later in life, cross-cultural tension, and self-discovery. Originally from Indonesia, Nita brings both lived and professional experience to their work. Growing up in a fairly conservative culture, they know what it’s like to carry guilt, anxiety, and shame just for wanting to live life on your own terms. That’s why they show up in therapy as a real human first, warm, curious, and never afraid to go deep. Their approach is very relational and in the moment, meaning they focus less on quick fixes and more on helping people feel seen, supported, and safe enough to explore what’s really going on underneath. Nita integrates practices from AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), DBT, and Synergetic Play Therapy, depending on what the person in front of them needs. Whether you're a queer teen trying to figure out who you are, a parent supporting a gender-diverse child, or someone in their 30s or 40s finally asking, “What do I want?” Nita’s here to walk with you.

Message to clients

Heyo, I’m Nita (they/them), and if you’ve landed here, I’m guessing you might be carrying some big questions: Who am I, really? Why is it so confusing to navigate all the messages the world throws at me? Is it too late to be myself? Whether you’re a teen feeling misunderstood, a young adult untangling your identity, or someone later in life realizing parts of you have been hidden for years, I want you to know you’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you. My jam is walking alongside LGBTQIA2S+ folks, neurodivergent minds, and anyone trying to live out their truth, especially when that means stepping outside cultural, familial, or societal expectations. I’ve been there too. I know what it’s like to carry shame, question everything, and long for a life that finally feels like yours. In therapy with me, we slow things down, not to stall, but to go deep where it matters. We’ll untangle the noise, make space for the real you to emerge, and start building a life that fits. By the end of our work together, you’ll feel more grounded in who you are, more confident taking up space, and more connected to your voice. You’ll get to shine brightly on your own terms and do it in the most unapologetic way possible. If that’s the direction you’re longing for, I’d be psyched to walk with you.

Nita is my go-to referral for queer, neurodiverse, and BIPOC youth facing life challenges, changes, and transitions. Nita’s authentic, quirky and kind hearted approach creates a space where clients feel connected, welcomed, and proud of who they are. Drawing from their personal experience with queerness, moving countries and cultures and being BIPOC, Nita offers unique insight into LGBTQIA2S+ challenges, cross-cultural transitions, and finding self truths. Nita’s strengths are supporting youth in setting boundaries, communicating, exploring attachment, gender identity, sexual orientation, and coming out. As a colleague, I have witnessed Nita as grounded and in deep attunement to each client’s unique experience, rooting connection and growth that empowers youth and young adults to confidently navigate life on their own terms. Nita is deeply committed to creating a safe, validating, and affirming space where their clients feel heard—no matter what they bring into the room.
