About
Samantha is in Long Beach, California and is the founder of Not Another Therapist, a telehealth therapy practice for the culturally grounded and emotionally curious. She earned her Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. Samantha specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and relationship challenges, supporting clients who want to better understand their patterns and create meaningful change. Her clinical approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and collaborative. Samantha integrates evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), narrative therapy, somatic-informed practices, and parts work. As a first-generation Latina therapist, Samantha brings a culturally attuned perspective to her work and often supports clients navigating family-of-origin dynamics, intergenerational trauma, and identity development. Her practice is especially welcoming to first-generation adults, BIPOC clients, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those exploring alternative lifestyles. She approaches therapy as a collaborative process focused on self-understanding, resilience, and values-aligned change.

Message to clients
Hi! I’m glad you’re here. Starting therapy can feel like a big step. It often means being willing to look at parts of your life that feel complicated, vulnerable, or hard to untangle. I believe therapy can be deeply meaningful — and that the best therapy happens when both therapist and client are engaged in the process of learning and growth. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, creative, and emotionally aware. They’re often the ones others rely on, but privately they may feel stuck in familiar patterns, overwhelmed by expectations, or unsure how to reconnect with their own voice. In our work together, we’ll slow things down and get curious about what’s underneath those patterns. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and emotionally curious. I integrate approaches like CBT, ACT, EMDR, parts work, and somatic awareness to help clients better understand themselves and create meaningful change. Part of my work as a therapist is continuing to reflect on the systems and experiences that shape how we understand safety, identity, and power. I believe emotional and cultural safety are fundamental human needs, and I’m committed to ongoing learning so I can create a therapy space where clients feel respected, understood, and able to show up fully as themselves. If this resonates with you, we might be a good fit.

Samantha is incredibly down‑to‑earth and so easy to talk to, and clients feel that from the moment they meet her. She goes out of her way to build real rapport, meeting people exactly as they are and creating a space where they can breathe, settle in, and be themselves. Through our consultations, I’ve heard how naturally she connects with clients and how deeply she shows up for them, and I recommend her wholeheartedly!
