About
Tamara J. Sussman is a clinical psychologist, with expertise in providing evidence-based therapy. She received her BA from Yale University, her PhD from Stony Brook University and completed a fellowship in the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry. As a research scientist, she believes strongly in using scientific research to inform therapy. She has expertise treating a wide range of issues with evidence-based therapy. More specifically, she specializes in treating post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), specific phobias (e.g. claustrophobia, fear of spiders), social anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Sometimes, issues do not fit neatly into a category. This is not a problem - the existing evidence can still guide treatment, helping to ensure that clients' needs are met. In addition to providing therapy, Tamara is also researcher. Her laboratory uses neuroscience methods to examine how adverse childhood experiences impact decisions about rewards and cognitive control. Before becoming a clinical psychologist, she was a visual artist.
