About Tara | She/her

Tara has 20 years of varied experience as a mental health professional. In private practice, she focuses on serving the LGBTQ+ community and people recovering from religious harm, two identities she shares. She enjoys working with trans and non-binary folks, people who are coming out later in life, and other members of the queer community. She has a collaborative, eclectic approach, drawing from DBT, CBT, self-compassion, feminist, and other approaches.

Message to clients

I’m truly passionate about my work and my clients. I help all kinds of people, but most of my clients are queer folks who have been harmed by (or are recovering from) religion. I love helping people understand themselves better, develop self-compassion, deepen their sense of self and authenticity, upgrade their boundaries, and get more comfortable in their skin. You deserve to be exactly and unapologetically who you are. But it might feel like there’s a huge chasm to cross to get there. Together, we can figure it out, and get to the other side. I identify as a secular therapist. This means I expressly avoid using religion or supernatural elements in my therapeutic work. You can rest assured that with me, you will not hear suggestions to “pray about it,” or think of your deceased loved one “in a better place.” Does that mean we can’t talk about religion? We absolutely can. It is often a major part of my clients’ histories, trauma, anxiety, and more. My style is conversational and collaborative. It is not uncommon for a session with me to include laughter, tears, and swearing, all in the same 55 minutes. I’m here and ready to help. Let’s start with a free 15 min consultation. You can book this directly on my website.
