About
Tyler Finley (they/them) received their M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University. They trained at The Earthbody Institute and earned a Level 1 Ecotherapy Certificate, indicating their proficiency in offering nature-based therapy indoors, outdoors, and virtually. Their approach draws from elements of psychodynamic therapy, ecotherapy, mindfulness, existential therapy, attachment-based work, and narrative practice. Tyler fosters a creative, affect-focused, and trauma-informed space to empower clients to explore concerns like anxiety, depression, trauma, overwhelm, burnout, and uncertainty. In Tyler's previous role, they frequently provided counseling services for LGBTQ+ young adults. As an engaged community provider, they were invited to speak on a panel at Hudson Pride Center's 2025 LGBTQ+ Youth Mental Health Summit. Tyler continues to find fulfillment in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community to co-navigate topics such as shame, relationship conflicts, and gender identity exploration.

Message to clients
I'm curious about your stuckness, your lostness, and your unspoken dreams holding their breath beneath the surface. We live in a world where we are often stretched to our capacities and uncertain how to return to–or discover–our deepest wants and needs. Pressure to meet the expectations of family, culture, work, and love can coalesce into a swarm of demands that consume opportunities for self-reflection, authentic relationships, and meaning-making. Despite this, I believe we can develop the compassion, intuition, and insight to form genuine connections and lead meaningful lives. I am a queer practitioner–queer in both my personhood and my approach. If you are queer, different, or have your sights set on untrodden paths through life, I hope you can find a therapeutic home here. I also love working with the following kinds of individuals: nature lovers; city people; healers; poets and artists; overthinkers; self-identified "awkward," "boring," or "funny" people; daydreamers; questioners (of rules, meaning, themselves, their therapists); and people seeking to finally trust themselves.
